➜ Power Sports Batteries

A YTX4L-BS delivers about 50 cold cranking amps; a 30HL-BS delivers close to 400, and fitting the wrong one is easy. Battery Power stocks power sports batteries in Leesburg, FL, and across Lake County and Wildwood, matched by code, terminal orientation and case size. Licensed and insured, free testing, activation and fitting same visit, old batteries recycled at no charge.

A SMALL CASE HOLDS VERY LITTLE MERCY.

There is no reserve in a power sports battery. A car battery carries enough surplus to survive a weak charging system for months; a 3Ah case does not. Sit a bike through 6 weeks of storm season with an alarm drawing on it, and the plates sulfate while the odometer never moves. That is how most of these batteries die.

So we test the machine as well as the battery. Charging output at riding revs, parasitic draw at rest, and terminal condition explain most failures long before the case itself is at fault.

  • Free battery testing with a real load result on the bench
  • Dry-charged batteries activated, filled and charged properly before fitting
  • Correct code, cold cranking amps and terminal orientation matched every time
  • Free recycling of your old power sports battery

➜ POWER SPORTS BATTERIES

ACTIVATED, CHARGED AND FITTED THE SAME VISIT.

A sealed AGM power sports battery ships dry with its acid pack alongside. Filling it is not the finish line. The battery has to sit while the mats absorb electrolyte, then take a slow charge before it ever sees a starter motor, because a case put into service at 80 percent never reaches full capacity again. We do that work here, on the bench, while you wait.

TRAIL RIDING AND STORM SEASON COLLIDE HERE.

Ocala National Forest trails sit a short haul north of us, and the same summer that fills them also parks machines for weeks at a time. Heat cooks a small AGM case in a shed. Humidity corrodes terminals. Riders in Eustis, Mount Dora and Sumter County come in every August with a UTV that cranked fine in April. A battery maintainer would have prevented most of those visits.

DRY BATTERIES PUNISH SHORTCUTS AT ACTIVATION.

We have activated these batteries at this counter for  years, and the shortcuts are always the same. Acid poured in and the machine started 10 minutes later. A car charger clamped onto a 5Ah case. A maintenance-free top pried off and topped up with acid it never needed. Our team does the filling, the rest and the charge in-house, never subcontracted. Why start a new battery already damaged?

➜ WHAT WE STOCK

OUR POWER SPORTS BATTERY RANGE

Codes look similar and cases are not. We stock the common sizes from 4L-BS up to 30HL-BS, along with lithium options and maintainers, and we activate every dry battery before it leaves.

SMALL

Small Cases: 4L-BS Through 7L-BS

Dirt bikes, scooters and small ATVs live in this band, covering 4L-BS, 5L-BS, 7-ABS, 7B-4, 7C-A, 7L-BS and 7S. Cranking figures run from roughly 50 to 130 amps. Case depth decides fitment more often than the number does.

MIDRANGE

Mid-Range Codes: 9-B4 Through 12-BS

Most Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki mid-displacement machines land on 9-B4, 9-BFS, 9-BS, 10-S or 12-BS. Cold cranking amps climb from about 120 to 190 across that group, and terminal layout changes with it.

LARGE

Larger Cases: 14-B4, 14-BS and 14-S

Bigger twins, sport bikes and full-size UTVs draw harder, and these codes answer with roughly 200 to 230 cold cranking amps. Polaris side-by-sides and larger Yamaha machines frequently sit in this range.

CRUISER

Cruiser and Touring: 14L-BS, 19CL-BS, 20HL-BS, 30HL-BS

Harley-Davidson machines take the heaviest cases we carry, including 14L-BS listed as ETX 15, 19CL-BS listed as 16L, 20HL-BS near 310 amps and 30HL-BS near 400. The L in those codes flags a reversed terminal layout.

AGM

AGM and Dry-Charged Activation

Sealed absorbed glass mat construction holds electrolyte in fiberglass mats, so nothing sloshes and nothing needs topping up. Dry-charged units arrive with an acid pack, and the fill, rest and initial charge decide the battery's life.

LITHIUM

Lithium Options and Maintainers

Weight is where lithium wins, cutting pounds off a race bike or a trail machine, and the MMG-1, MMG-6 and MMG-8 cover that line. Lithium needs its own charger profile, so a lead-acid maintainer will not do.

➜ THE WORD ON OUR WORK

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY.

Riders keep telling us the same story: they walked in with a code off the old case and walked out with the machine running. Correct activation, correct polarity, no return trip. Owner Eric Couture and our counter team treat that as the baseline, not the achievement.

➜ Common Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

Below are the questions riders bring to our counter about codes, cranking amps, activation, charging and off-season storage. If yours is missing, ask us and we will answer straight.

  • What do the letters and numbers in a code like YTX14-BS mean?

The prefix identifies the type and the maker, the number reflects relative power rather than amp-hours, and the suffix describes the design. BS marks a sealed maintenance-free case supplied with a separate acid pack.

  • Is a CTX9-BS the same battery as a YTX9-BS?

In most cases yes. The first letter is usually a manufacturer mark, so YTX, CTX and GTX versions of the same number share dimensions, terminal layout and rating. A few brands break that pattern.

  • Does terminal orientation matter on a motorcycle battery?

Yes, more than most people expect. A reversed layout leaves the cables too short or forces them across the case, and the L in a code exists precisely to flag that difference.

  • How many volts should a healthy power sports battery read?

A rested 12-volt battery should sit between 12.5 and 13.5 volts. Below 12.4 it will struggle to crank. Battery Power runs that check free at our counter in Leesburg, FL, along with a proper load test.

  • Can I fit a larger battery in my motorcycle or ATV?

Sometimes. If the tray has room and the polarity matches, a slightly larger case with more capacity can help a machine running an alarm or accessories. Cable reach and hold-down clearance decide it.

  • Does idling the engine recharge a power sports battery?

No. At idle the charging system often delivers only 12 to 12.5 volts, which is less than starting consumed. Charging happens near 13.5 to 14.5 volts, meaning actual riding or a maintainer.

  • How should I store a power sports battery over the off-season?

Store it fully charged, disconnected, somewhere dry and out of direct heat. A maintainer suited to the chemistry keeps it topped without cooking it, and a battery left flat sulfates within weeks.

  • Why should I buy a power sports battery from you instead of ordering online?

Activation is the difference. Battery Power fills, rests and charges every dry battery properly in Leesburg, FL, confirms the code and terminal orientation against your machine, fits it the same visit, and recycles the old one.
