➜ Lawn Equipment Batteries

Group U1 batteries come in two terminal layouts, U1L with the positive post on the left and U1R with it on the right. Battery Power shelves both in 250 CCA and 350 CCA, supplying lawn equipment batteries in along with Fruitland Park, Eustis and Mount Dora. Licensed and insured, free battery testing, old batteries recycled at no cost.

A MOWER THAT WILL NOT CRANK COSTS A SATURDAY.

The grass does not wait for anyone. You back the mower out of the shed, turn the key, get a single click, and the morning you set aside disappears into a parts counter. Most of those mornings trace back to one thing, a 12V battery that sat unused at partial charge and quietly sulfated.

We test before we sell anything. A free voltage, load and internal health check takes minutes and often reveals a healthy battery starved by a failing charging system or a corroded terminal.

  • U1 batteries in both polarities, U1L and U1R
  • 250 CCA and 350 CCA options on the shelf
  • Free testing on voltage, load and internal health
  • Free recycling of your old battery

➜ LAWN EQUIPMENT BATTERIES

U1 BATTERIES IN BOTH POLARITIES, ON THE SHELF.

Group U1 is one case size with two personalities. Put a left-positive battery where a right-positive belongs and the cables stretch, the terminals crowd the tray wall, and a short circuit becomes a genuine possibility. We carry U1 Left 250, U1 Left 350, U1 Right 250 and U1 Right 350, so terminal polarity and battery tray fit are settled at the counter rather than in your driveway.

FL LAWNS NEVER STOP GROWING.

St. Augustine grass keeps growing 10 months of the year here, and crews across Leesburg, Tavares and Mount Dora mow through summer storms and mild Januarys alike. Heat is hard on lead-acid chemistry. Under a hot deck, water evaporates from the cells and plates corrode faster, so a riding mower battery in Lake County often quits well sooner than the box promised.

POLARITY MISTAKES ARE THE ONES WE PREVENT MOST.

In  years the mistake we intercept most often is someone walking out with the wrong post orientation. Reversed wiring, stretched cables, melted insulation, a starter solenoid that never had a chance. We check tray dimensions, cable reach and the hold-down before anything gets rung up, because a two-second question can save a ruined afternoon. Why fight a battery into a tray it was never shaped for?

➜ WHAT WE CARRY

OUR LAWN EQUIPMENT BATTERY RANGE

Four U1 part numbers cover most of what rolls through the door, backed by free testing, terminal cleaning and no-cost recycling. Bring the old battery or a clear photo of the tray and we will match it.

U1L

U1 Left 250 And U1 Left 350

Left-positive units drop into the majority of riding mowers, with 250 CCA suiting mild single-cylinder decks and 350 CCA covering larger twins that ask more of the starter on a hot restart.

U1R

U1 Right 250 And U1 Right 350

Reverse-terminal versions carry the positive post on the right, the layout many garden tractors and commercial machines require. Same case, same footprint, opposite polarity, and the difference matters the moment cables tighten.

CRANKING

250 CCA And 350 CCA Options

Cold cranking amps measure starting punch. 250 CCA handles most walk-behinds and light riders, while 350 CCA leaves margin for bigger engines, long cable runs and machines that start and stop all day.

TRACTORS

Riding Mower And Garden Tractor Batteries

Lawn tractors run 12V systems that also feed headlights, PTO clutches and hour meters. A garden tractor battery matched to that whole load, rather than to the engine alone, holds up through a season.

ZERO-TURN

Zero-Turn Mower Batteries

Commercial zero-turn machines cycle the starter constantly and vibrate hard all day. Higher-CCA U1 batteries with tight hold-downs earn their keep here, since loose mounting kills more of them than cranking ever does.

STORAGE

Seasonal Storage And Maintenance

Batteries stored indoors at full charge, away from a hot slab and topped up monthly with a maintainer, come back ready in spring. Terminal cleaning before storage costs nothing and prevents most corrosion.

➜ THE WORD ON OUR WORK

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY.

Homeowners and lawn crews tell the same story back to us. Somebody walked in unsure which U1 they needed, left with the right one in a few minutes, and the mower started. That kind of small, boring reliability is what keeps people returning.

➜ Common Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

These come up at our counter every mowing season. Answers are short here by design. Bring the battery, or a photo of the tray and cables, and we will sort out the fit fast.

  • What is the difference between a U1 and a U1R battery?

Terminal position is the only real difference. Both share the same case size, but a U1R carries the positive post on the right and a standard U1L carries it on the left.

  • What size battery does a riding lawn mower take?

Most riding mowers use a group U1 battery, roughly 7.8 by 5.2 by 7.3 inches at 12 volts. Battery Power keeps both polarities on the shelf in Leesburg, FL, so the fit is confirmed before you pay.

  • How many cold cranking amps does a lawn mower battery need?

Anything between 200 and 350 CCA covers nearly every machine. Single-cylinder walk-behinds and small riders run happily at 250 CCA, while twin-cylinder engines and commercial decks do better with 350 CCA.

  • How long does a riding mower battery last?

Expect 3 to 5 years from a U1 battery in hot climates, and less if it sits discharged between seasons. Deep discharges, loose hold-downs and corroded terminals all shorten that figure considerably.

  • Why does my lawn mower battery keep dying?

Parasitic drain, a failing charging stator or a regulator putting out nothing are the usual culprits. A battery that tests healthy yet goes flat every week is rarely the actual fault in the system.

  • Can I charge a mower battery with a car charger?

Yes, on a low setting only. Use 2 amps or less, or a maintainer, because a car charger left on a high amperage setting overheats a small U1 battery and warps its thin plates.

  • Should I remove the battery for off-season storage?

Removing it helps a great deal. Keep the battery indoors, fully charged and off hot concrete, then run a maintainer on it monthly so the plates never sit sulfated through the quiet months.

  • Why buy a lawn mower battery from Battery Power?

Polarity gets settled before you pay. Battery Power has served Leesburg, FL for 20 years with free testing, U1L and U1R stocked in both cranking ratings, installation while you wait and free recycling.
